A Moment In Time.

Hello and welcome...

When starting out in the world of photography many ask themselves the question what kind of equipment do I need? Remember many photographers started in the early days of photography with very little and very basic equipment but some of their images captured on just a square glass plate and a silver mixture coating are still on display over a hundred years later. Lets face it. A great photo will always be, well, a great photo no matter how it was taken. Early cameras had no shutter and relied on the photographer to take off the lens cap and count out the exposure time then replace the cap only having to wait until they developed the image in a darkroom to see if they had been successful in creating the image they were hoping for. So do you need a top of the line equipment? Not at all. There was an interesting lesson in photography where a few professionals were given regular film cameras instead of digital cameras to see what they could come up with. The result was some great photos. Top of the line equipment won't make you a better photographer. The truth is photography starts with you. What draws your attention to a particular scene. Where do your eyes take you? How does the atmosphere of the moment make you feel? Are you noticing just the subject or taking in the whole moment? What's is catching your attention, is the background interesting? Time of day can affect the sky turning your picture into a feeling of warmth or a chilly night. A photo can convey a feeling of celebration, natural beauty, a fabulous moment, or a broken heart. What kind of photographer are you interested in becoming? Artistic, Landscape, Sports, News ? First and foremost take a moment to really see what is before you before you press the shutter button and capture a moment in time...~ Alan Mason.
